🌑 Important Announcement: School Closure on April 8th Due to Eclipse 🌑

Dear Students, Parents, and Staff,

We hope this message finds you well. We wanted to inform you of an upcoming event that will affect our school operations. On April 8th, 2024, a rare celestial event, a total solar eclipse, is set to occur. In light of this occurrence and considering potential traffic congestion and limitations on emergency services, we have made the decision to close the school on that day.

The safety and well-being of our students, staff, and community are our utmost priority. While we encourage everyone to witness this incredible event safely, we also recognize the challenges it may pose in terms of transportation and emergency response. Thus, to mitigate any potential risks, we have chosen to suspend classes on April 8th.  This day will NOT have to be made up.

We urge all students and families to take necessary precautions if planning to observe the eclipse. Remember to use proper eye protection and adhere to safety guidelines provided by reputable sources. Additionally, please plan your travel routes accordingly, as there may be increased traffic in areas where the eclipse is visible.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter. Our primary concern is the safety and welfare of our school community. Regular classes will resume on the following day, April 9th.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Darrell R. Evans, Superintendent, Dew ISD

Reminder: this day will NOT have to be made up!
