Dew ISD Gives Kids a Great Start with High-Quality Prekindergarten

Dew, Texas April 14, 2014 – Dew ISD is hosting PreK Round-up, an event where parents will learn everything they need to know about the school’s prekindergarten program. Parents will meet teachers, tour classrooms and find out about classroom activities in which their kids will participate.

High-quality prekindergarten inspires children to become lifelong learners and prepares them for kindergarten and beyond by teaching them important skills needed for academic and social success. It is provided at no cost for eligible children ages three to five through many school districts.

Kids who attend high-quality prekindergarten are more prepared for kindergarten, have better reading and writing skills, do better in grades K-12, have better social skills, behavior, and conduct and go on to greater success in life.

“It’s incredible to see how much our prekindergarten students learn and grow in just a short time,” said Lynn Jantzen, Superintendent at Dew ISD. “Quality early education is critical to a child’s social, emotional and academic development and is the foundation for a lifelong love of learning.”

Dew ISD PreK Round-up will be held on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Dew Elementary School from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Application forms will be available and if your child is eligible for free prekindergarten, you will have the opportunity to register for the upcoming school year. To register, you will need to bring the following information: Birth Certificate; Immunization Record/Card; Student’s Social Security Card; Parent’s Picture ID/Driver’s License and Proof of Residence.
